News and Events for North Catasauqua Borough, Small Town USA.

Congrats to our new Chief of Police - Christopher Wolfer!

It is our pleasure to announce the promotion of Christopher Wolfer to the position of Chief of Police for the North Catasauqua Police Department.  This follows an intensive interview process of numerous candidates from around the region conducted by the borough in the fall of 2019, as well as a months-long interim appointment as a means of providing additional experience in the role.

Chief Wolfer has served the North Catasauqua Police Department since 2013, and has served as Corporal since 2018.  Chief Wolfer has been acting as Chief since July of 2019 with the untimely passing of Chief Kim Moyer.  He has served with distinction in this role, and has provided valuable leadership in the department.

In the interim, Chief Wolfer has:

-          Implemented a “business check” policy to assist local businesses in ensuring that their premises are secure at night

-          Increasing training of officers to enhance their strengths

-          Enhanced the effectiveness of our officers by adding computing resources

-          Represented North Catasauqua in regional police and planning meetings

-          Revised working schedules

-          Provided an enhanced level of data analysis for events in the borough

Overall, Chief Wolfer has demonstrated service to the Borough of North Catasauqua with honor and fidelity following his interim appointment.

We look forward to Chief Wolfer’s continued service to the borough, and we wish him the best of luck in his new role.

Sincerely,

Peter Paone Borough Council President, North Catasauqua

William Molchany Mayor, North Catasauqua

PASSING OF CHIEF MOYER 1951-2019

It is with heavy hearts that the North Catasauqua family mourns the loss of one of our own. With deep regret we must report that Chief of Police Kim Moyer passed away unexpectedly this morning at the age of 68 years old. Chief Moyer had served with the North Catasauqua Police Department for more than 45 years, and had been serving as Chief of Police for nearly 40 years.

In addition to his service with the North Catasauqua Police Department, Kim had also served as Director of the Borough’s Public Works Department for several years. As a public servant for the citizens of North Catasauqua since 1974, he was a fixture in the community and leaves behind a lasting legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

Kim leaves behind a family and a police department of 4 full time and 5 part time officers. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those mourning his passing today. Details on funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced as they are available.

Rest now Chief, your final tour of duty is complete. You have lived a life of valor, integrity, and dedication, values which all men and women should strive to attain. You are the foundation on which our police department was built. You have instilled your values on all of those who have had the honor and privilege of working under you. You have trained cadets and forged them into ranking officials and leaders who can be found in departments throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. You were not just a boss, you were a leader, a role model, a father figure, and most importantly a friend. Until we meet again at the pearly gates we will strive to live in your honor and continue your great legacy. May you forever rest in peace.

At this time the Borough has appointed Corporal Christopher Wolfer as the Acting Chief.
